Section 4: Accessing the Kurzweil Tools

There are four ways to access most Kurzweil tools, and students can choose a method which works best for them.

We’ll use the Definition tool as an example.

To find the definition of a word, select the word in the document and click the Definition button on the Main Toolbar.

Or select the word and choose Reference  Selected Word and Definition.

The shortcut key for getting a definition is printed next to the menu item. In this case the shortcut is Control-D.

So a third way to access the dictionary is to select the word and then type Control-D.

A fourth way to access the dictionary is by clicking the right mouse button in the Kurzweil window.
This brings up a menu from which you can look up the word.

It is possible to customize this menu by choosing Tools -> Customize -> Right Mouse Button.

The items currently appearing on the menu are highlighted in blue.

You can toggle them on and off by clicking on them.

Let’s add the Synonym Tool.
