Section 2: The Kurzweil Window

At the top of the Kurzweil window you will see the document title, the Kurzweil menu, and up to four standard toolbars:
• the Main Toolbar
• the Reading Toolbar
• the Study Skills Toolbar
• the Writing Toolbar

At the bottom of the page you will find a Status Bar, which tells you information such as scanning progress and page numbers.

On the right hand side, you will see a thumbnail view of the current page with the area currently displayed outlined in red. The compass arrows below will change the area of the page being displayed.

But notice that compass arrows will not advance you to a new page.

Likewise, the scroll bar will only work on the current page.

To move to another page, choose View  Page, or use the arrow keys on the Reading Toolbar.

You can hide the thumbnails by choosing View  Thumbnails and the Page Thumbnail toggle.

In this menu you can also choose the size of the thumbnails or switch to Thumbnail View.

This allows you to view all of the pages as thumbnails, which is useful for checking the results of scanning or navigating quickly to a page.

This concludes Section 2.
