Section 12a : Adding, Deleting and Moving Note

The notes tools are located on the Study Skills Toolbar. They include Footnotes, Sticky notes, Text notes, and Voice notes.

To add a Sticky note, click the button and click in the document.

As you type, the note will expand. When the note has reached the desired width, press the Enter key to start a new line. When you are finished, click out of the note.

To add a Text note, click the Text note button and click in the document.

This is a useful tool for filling in the blanks on forms, worksheets, and tests. To fill in the blanks automatically, choose Tools -> Fill In The Blanks, and text notes will be generated in each location that Kurzweil determines is a blank. You can use the Tab key to move from note to note.

Some clean up of unwanted notes may be necessary. To delete a note, click the note and click Delete.

To add a footnote, position your cursor and click the Footnote button. After typing your footnote, click Close.

To reopen your footnote, click on the numbered icon.

To add a voice note, you must have a microphone hooked up to your computer.

Position your cursor, and click the Voice note. When you are ready to start recording, click the microphone. (Instructor records, “This is a voice note.” )

To test your voice note, press Play. (Kurzweil reads, “This is a Voice Note.”)

When you are happy with your recording, press OK.

To hear the voice note, click the voice note icon on the page. (Kurzweil reads, “This is a Voice Note.”)

The icon is sometimes hard to hit because it is so small. In that case, raise the Zoom level.

To move a sticky note or a text note, click the note, hold the mouse button down, and drag.

Footnotes and voice notes cannot be moved.

This concludes Section 12a.
