Episode 1: Gary Collings, Ed.D. (Executive Director/ISEAS Project)

Gary Collings introduces himself as the director of the ISEAS project, welcomes participants to the NIMAS Workshop 2006 and introduces the panel speakers and Notes that Vicki Hershman, PATINS State Director who is not listed on the agenda will be speaking last, following Robert Marra, and will wrap up. 

Episode 2: Chuck Hitchcock (Chief Officer, Policy & Technology Director; NIMAS Technical Assistance Center; Center for Applied Special Technology [CAST])

Chuck Hitchcock from the Center for Applied Special Technology provides an overview of NIMAS (National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard), NIMAC (National Instructional Materials Accessibility Center) and the development of NIMAS and Technical Centers.  Chuck responds to questions following his presentation.

Episode 3: Jessica Brodey (Attorney and NIMAS Policy Consultant; Assistive Technology Industry Association)

Jessica Brodey, attorney and NIMAS policy consultant provides NIMAS statute and regulations and copyright protection information.  Jessica provides information about working with text book publishers.  Jessica responds to questions following her presentations.

Episode 4: Dave Schleppenbach (CEO, gh, LCC NIMAS Technical Support Panel)

Dave Schleppenbach, CEO, gh, LCC, discusses the NIMAS technical specifications and the components included in a NIMAS file set.  Dave also discusses specialized file formats, possible software solutions and finally responds to questions from participants.

Episode 5: Dr. Robert Marra (Associate Superintendent and Director, Indiana DOE Division of Exceptional Learners)

Dr. Robert Marra, Associate Superintendent and Director, Indiana DOE Division of Exceptional Learners, discusses the Indiana state plan for NIMAS and responds to participants' questions.

Episode 6: Vicki Hershman (PATINS-Project State Director)

Vicki Hershman, Director of the PATINS-Project introduces the PATINS-Project staff and discusses how PATINS plans to support implementation of the NIMAS through staff development training, lending libraries of the five sites.  After responding to questions, Vicki thanks participants for attending and closes the workshop.

Episode 7: Vicki Hershman (PATINS-Project State Director)

Daniel McNulty of the NE PATINS Sites talks with Alice Buchanan of the ICAM about the role and responsibilities of The Digital Rights Manager in Indiana Schools with regard to the National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS) and the Indiana Center for Accessible Materials (ICAM). Episode 8: Skip Stahl at the PATINS AT/IT Luncheon: NIMAS Overview

Episode 8 is a recording of Skip Stahl’s keynote presentation at the PATINS AT/IT Luncheon on April 11, 2007. Skip Stahl is CAST’s Director of Technical Assistance and is Project Director for the National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS) Development Center. He is also a nationally recognized expert in Universal Design for Learning. This keynote addresses current legal issues, concepts and ideas around NIMAS and how IT/AT K-12 staff could prepare their buildings and districts for any changes that may be necessary to implementing NIMAS. This episode is approximately an hour and 24 minutes long and is available as an audio-only mp3 and also as an enhanced podcast.
