22 DeMonte` DeMonte` is a student who has expressed a deep interest in math and science prior to placement in formalized school settings. He is an aggressive reader and seems more interested in topics than his ability to tackle the material.
1 Hewlitt Packard Hewlitt is 13 years old and entering 7th grade. He is hemiplegic, spastic and has athetoid cerebral palsy.
25 Ian Ian is an 8 year 1 month old male diagnosed with spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy.  He is fully included in a general education 2nd grade classroom.  He attended a special education preschool, but has been fully included in general education since then.  He is nonambulatory and independently drives a power wheelchair using a joystick with his right hand.  Ian receives physical therapy three times per week for 30 minutes per session and occupational therapy two times per week for 40 minutes per session.  Ian uses speech to meet his daily communication needs.  His speech is generally intelligible to most communication partners unless he is tired or sick or otherwise has inadequate breath support.  He lives at home with both parents and a younger brother where English is the only language spoken.  Ian participates in boy scouts and therapeutic horseback riding once each per week.
13 Jason Jason is a 14-year-old eighth grader. He has received special education services as a student with a learning disability and Attention Deficit/Hyperactive Disorder since the third grade.
10 Jeff Jeff is an 8-year-old second grade student. He was retained and is repeating the second grade. Despite the efforts of Jeff’s teacher and parents, Jeff is not making the academic progress that the other students are making.

24 Maria Maria is a 6 year 5 month old female who has been diagnosed with multiple disabilities including mild cognitive impairment and a profound hearing loss in her left ear that is unaided She has a history of ear infections and has received pressure equalization (PE) tubes Her vision is reportedly within normal limits Maria has little or no functional speech, but uses several communication modalities to express her basic needs and wants including gestures, manual signs, and spoken word approximations Maria demonstrates developmental delays in receptive and expressive language skills, fine motor skills, and self-help skills. Maria is independently ambulatory and has functional use of her upper extremities. She demonstrates low muscle tone and generalized muscle weakness. Maria resides at home with her family where the primary language spoken is Spanish.
26 Matthew Matthew is a 7 year old child with a diagnosis of autism. He was diagnosed at age 22 months. Up until 19 months of age, he had been developing seemingly normal and then began losing skills and becoming much more introverted. Upon diagnosis, he was enrolled in First Steps and began working with a speech clinician, occupational therapist, and developmental therapist. The parents augmented these services with private therapy focused on behavior and communication.
21 Natasha Natasha is a student who enjoys being in school and working “like the big kids do.” She has had extensive day-care setting situations which included state criteria recommendations for program and age appropriate development activities.

27 Sara Sara is 10 years old and attends a public elementary school. While Sara performs certain academic skills close to grade level, she has particular difficulty with tasks that require comprehension and problem-solving. She required minimal assistance prior to the third grade, but as work has become more complex so have Sara’s support needs. Sara is also prone to becoming anxious, and is incredibly rigid and rule-bound.
