Special Education Resources:
Indiana Department of Education, Division of Exceptional Learners (IDOE) - The division provides leadership and state-level support for public school gifted and talented (grades K-12) programs for students with disabilities from ages 3-21. The division includes the Gifted and Talented and Special Education Teams, which administers grants, operates four resource centers, and provides workshops and materials suited to the needs of the gifted and talented and the special education population. This site links to each team and their related links such as What new, Contacts, Resources, Laws/Rules/Interpretations, Events/Training, and Reports. There is a link with information on the State Advisory Council such as its purpose & responsibilities, membership, and meeting minutes. A third link is provided to allow one to search job openings or post qualifications for a position. Finally, a list with contact information is offered of Division staff.
Indiana Special Education Administrators' Services (ISEAS) - This site offers a listing of and information about various organizations related to the exceptional needs population and those who provide service. Organizations highlighted within this site include for example the ISEAS Project and University Forum, Blumberg Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Education, Cable Newsletter, Newsgroups On-line, Uniform Resource Locators, Indiana State University, Indiana Job Connection, and the U.S. Office of Special Education.
Indiana Council of Administrators of Special Education (ICASE) - The Indiana Council of Administrators of Special Education advances professional leadership demonstrated through effective educational services for all students. ICASE has served the professional needs of its members for forty years and will continue to provide leadership. The site links the public to ICASE's strategic plan, committees, conferences, scholarships, and noteworthy news.
Indiana Professional Standards Board (IPSB) - This is an important site for those currently teaching students with exceptionalities or preparing to be teachers of students with exceptionalities. In-service and preserves teachers can find information on licensing, renewal of licenses, education preparation, and the mentorship program in Indiana. In addition, the site provides interested users with a list of Board Meetings, FAQs, Related Links, Standards, and What's New.
The IRIS Center - This national effort, serving college faculty working in pre-service preparation programs, aims to ensure that general education teachers, school administrators, school nurses, and school counselors are well prepared to work with students who have disabilities and with their families. Teams of experts are creating a range of course enhancement materials, including interactive modules for student-use, and an array of resources for faculty. Such course enhancements include: PowerPoint presentations, supplementary course handouts, and other high-interest materials that are readily accessible for practical use in existing required courses. IRIS is also identifying and describing exemplary course materials already developed for use by faculty who prepare personnel in the four target disciplines.

Indiana Paraeducator Support Project (IPSP) - The Indiana Paraeducator Support Project is a joint initiative between the Indiana Department of Education, Division of Exceptional Learners, and the Indiana University School of Education at IUPUI. Its purpose is to improve special education paraeducator training efforts across Indiana by creating a network of support for existing as well as newly developed local school district initiatives and providing model training program opportunities.
